So, I got some new shiny toys to make art with (Woo!)- a Cintiq  and a canon scanner round out the collection of ’stuff’ that began with the red laptop. And to all of you who were wondering? I think the cintiq IS that awesome, and wonderful, beyond the much-remarked upon cording -but that’s not too horribly bad. The scanner’s a canon Lide200, which is about the same size as the cintiq, and the scanner, laptop and cintiq can all fit into my backpack, should I feel a need to travel about (though it wouldn’t be light!).

In other news, winter has come to the land, as evidenced by the coming of snow, and the passing of thanksgiving :

Sparklevamps

God help me. I bought that book. Twilight. With the sparkly, diamond-encrusted vampires. The ones that sparkle in sunlight.

And then I got to thinking.

Undead creatures. With diamond-like skin. During the fur-trade, there HAD to be a market for vampire skins. Vampire skin purses, bags, dresses. It would’ve been cheaper and easier to get than sequined shit…. And the best part would be hunting them. You’d go out into the wilderness with a light of some sort, look for the shine, and BAMBAMBAM! Got a nice new sparkly purse for your girlfriend.

Obviously this is why vampires in the twilight-verse are rare. The truth? They were hunted to be made into luxury items.

Rootfireember Some people have tried to captive-breed sparklevamps for the fur industry, but to no avail. We don’t want to know their methods. Ever.
Rootfireember
Rootfireember Sparklevamps now being protected under CITES treaties, and hunting being only allowed with a permit.
Rootfireember
Rootfireember In addition, in some backwater areas, Vampire shining is still a popular pastime, though shooting them is illegal.
Rootfireember
Rootfireember Secretly, there is a lucrative black market trade of goods made of sparklevamp skin, especially ladies handbags.

Ink’d!

My friend Ted had me do a drawing for his friend Jodi. Recently, Jodi had the picture made into a tattoo at Faith Tattoo in Santa Rosa, CA. The guy who did the lovely inkwork’s name is Mike. So; congrats on the new tattoo, Jodi, great job on the artowrk, Mike. :)
